Bollywood is the Hindi film industry based in Mumbai, India, and is the world's largest film industry by the number of films produced and released annually — in other words, it's the Hollywood of India. The term "Bollywood" is a portmanteau of the words "Bombay" and "Hollywood," and the industry began in Bombay (now Mumbai) in the 1930s. Bollywood films are known for their colorful, dynamic, and highly theatrical dance style which combine classical forms of dance including traditional Indian, folk, salsa, belly-dance while also incorporating more contemporary western forms such as hip hop, jazz and funk. The music is carefully synchronized with the lyrics, and the often family-friendly films  feature melodrama, romance, musicals, song-and-dance numbers, and filmi music. The movies often use common ideas such as star-crossed lovers, angry parents, love triangles, family ties, sacrifice, corrupt politicians, kidnappers, scheming villains, long-lost relatives, and siblings separated by fate.
